You can configure the Create from Document user action on the Content Plan Item object lifecycle to allow users to generate documents from a Controlled Document Template. When users initiate this action, Vault creates a new document and automatically matches it to the corresponding Content Plan Item record.

You can also use Controlled Document Templates to configure and include Table of Contents (TOC) documents in both report level content plans and submission content plans. In this case, you can configure the Create from Document user action to generate a TOC based on the content plan hierarchy that includes bookmarks from documents matched to Content Plan Item records. About the Create from Document Field

The Create from Document (create_from_document__v) field is an object field that controls the ability to associate document templates, such as a TOC, to a Content Plan Item Template record. You can add this field to any Content Plan Item Template page layout.

About the Create from Document User Action

You can add the Create from Document user action to the Content Plan Item object lifecycle. This allows users to create a document or TOC for any Content Plan Item associated to a Content Plan Item Template.

When users select this action, Vault automatically matches the document to the corresponding Content Plan Item. The document type, subtype, and classification are based on the Content Plan Item record’s Full Document Type field. Note that document creation fails if the Content Plan Item Template references an archived document.
